We'll write an essay on "Climate Justice" and submit to an international student essay competition! The essay length varies by age as follows: Primary students (ages 7-11): 400 words Secondary and College students (ages 12-18): 600 words

About the Event
Class size: 4-8 kids/elementary class (grades 2-5); 4-8 kids/secondary class (grades 6-11)
Teachers: David Siller (bio here), published author, editor and educator; and Dr. Jiang Pu (bio here), published author and Ed leader. There will also be 1 teaching assistant.
Before the class: Students will receive learning resources & videos on the topic to get them prepared and excited about writing!
During the class: In this 1-hour highly interactive class, we'll analyze the essay contest topic ("Climate Justice"), read and discuss winning essays from previous years, and learn writing techniques. Students will develop their own personal views, perspectives and experiences to help bring their thoughts and visions alive. Students will then draft their own esssays and receive feedback from teachers and peers. Whole class presentation and separate zoom breakout sessions for small group discussion and individualized instruction.
After the class: Students will receive detailed info for submission to the international essay contest.
Optional: Students may request individualized feedback from our teachers. They will need to finish and send their essays by Dec 17, 2021. They will receive feedback by Dec 22 for revision.
Deadline for esssay submission to the international contest is Jan 09, 2022 (online submission).
*Students will improve their writing skills and raise environmental awareness even if they choose not to attend the international essay contest.
